Cassie

Ranch Mink
Rescued August, 2003

Died October, 2006

Cassie and Ginger Playing

Cassie was once a breeder mink. She escaped. Ranch mink do not have the skills they need to live in the wild effectively, so Cassie went to the only place she knew she could find food.....a house. She found a place where the people fed their cats in the garage and moved in. The owners, however, were not thrilled with the idea of a mink living in their garage. So when they saw her, they called someone to come get her.

Cassie's Home

I heard about this homeless mink and wanted to adopt her. My raccoon was suffering from the loss of her best friend who was a mink. So I was hoping that Cassie and Ginger could learn to get along and they could be friends. It took a few weeks, but Cassie and Ginger have become friends. Ginger is delighted to have a mink as a friend again. And Cassie is thrilled to have a safe place to live where she is fed without fear of being pelted.

Cassie has learned how to play gently with me and is great with Ginger. Due to her background, I do not have other people handling her. She loves to play games where she stalks Ginger and I. She also loves to swim in the bathtub filled with water. She is a calm and happy girl now.
