To Whom It May Concern: I am Rita Henderson, Executive Director for
the Laurens County Literacy Council, Laurens, SC. The Literacy
Council is a community based organization which caters to the basic
skills and educational needs of adult learners of Laurens County.
Mercedes Curry has come to our adult learners learning lab in the
past and has done an educational program for the adult students with her
many interesting animals. The adult students were amazed to see
such animals at such a close range. The students were so excited
after the presentation Ms. Curry presented with her animals. I
immediately obligated her to come back soon for another program and hope
that she plan a visit to their adult learning lab each year. The
students learned so much about the many different animals. Some of
the students stressed an interest in seeing a varity of animals such as
monkeys, owls, etc....
I am looking forward to seeing the many different animals upon Ms.
Curry's next visit to the Laurens County Literacy Council's adult
education learning lab.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at 864-984-0466.
Sincerely,
Rita Henderson

To Whom it May Concern: I am Sharon Woolbright, Zoology instructor at
Emerald High School. Mercedes Curry has come to my zoology class
in the past and has conducted an educational program with her animals.
My students study different types of animals, their habits, and
conservation methods to protect them. Ms. Curry's educational
program correlated with the educational goals of the zoology curriculum.
Ms. Curry stressed proper care of animals and what one should do if they
came upon a wild animal. The information she shared with my
students was very informative and educational. However, the live
animals Ms. Curry brings to the classroom makes zoology more meaningful
to my students. By seeing the live animals while Ms. Curry talks
about them enables the students to form a connection with the animals
which leads to a better appreciation for animals.
We plan on having her come back to speak to us again in the future
and would enjoy having raptors added to her program.
Thanks,
Sharon

To Whom It May Concern: I am Jennifer Davie and I teach 1st and 2nd
grade Montessori at Waterloo Elementary School. Mercedes Curry has
been to my school several times over the past few years with her
animals. She provided the children with animal experiences that
they would otherwise never have the opportunity to experience.
Mrs. Curry was very patient with all of the questions asked by the
children, and because of her wealth of knowledge was able to answer
their questions completely.
We are looking forwards to her returning to our school for future
presentations. I understand she is pushing having hawks and owls
included in her program and I hope to see them added. They would
be wonderful additions to her program.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

The
variety of animals was great. My students loved seeing animals they've
never seen "in real life". All of their questions were answered and they
learned lots of interesting information about wildlife and living
together with it.
Thanks so
much for coming. Again, the students really enjoyed it.

I wanted
to take a moment to thank you for coming to our Rotary Club here in
Laurens to present your program, PAWS, Inc, and what it does for our
community.
I must
say I noticed some different looks when we helped you in with the crates
before you spoke, but I can tell you everyone REALLY enjoyed it!! I
still have people coming up to me a month or so after the program was
presented telling me how much they enjoyed it and that they are glad you
are a party of this community and made us aware of the animals around us
and their needs.
You have
a great gift with animals and it shows. I think it is wonderful how
you give so unselfishly of yourself to animals in need and how you use
them to educate us, the public, about the different types of animals,
their habits and needs.
I would
very much recommend your program to anyone in the area. I think it is a
topic that needs to be highlighted not only in our community, but in the
Upstate too!
Sincerely,
Angela

Thank you so much for your
efforts to try and save "the gray fox".
We wish there were more
people like you that would help to save the wild animals.
Thanks,
